Parapets in the Miroslava, Tăureni and Drăgan contracts

Three award notices published between 28 and 30 September 2026 have one thing in common: parapets are part of the works. A commune near Iași signed for 12 streets, a commune in Mureș county signed for a bridge, and the national forestry body Romsilva signed for forest roads in Cluj and Bihor counties.

Together the three contracts are worth 28,504,047.36 RON, about 5,325,072 EUR. This article sets out what each notice states about parapets and where it stops. Parapet is the Romanian word for a roadside safety barrier, and for the railing on a bridge.

Tăureni names two kinds of parapet on one bridge

Comuna Tăureni in Mureș county signed a works contract on 25 September 2026 with the contractor MITHRAS BUILD, in a consortium with IMA SOLUTION CONSTRUCT S.R.L. The value is 5,038,316.44 RON, about 941,249 EUR, with a works period of 6 months. The notice appeared on 28 September 2026. It is notice SCNA1137491.

The works are a bridge over a stream and the junction that gives access to it. The notice gives a structure length of 27.02 m, a clear span of 18.23 m, a carriageway of 7.00 m and two footways of 1.00 m each. On the parapets it says:

Pe pod se va dispune parapet directional de tip greu (bordură înaltă) la marginea carosabilului si parapet pietonal metalic.

In English: a heavy-type directional parapet (high kerb) goes along the edge of the carriageway, and a metal pedestrian parapet goes with it. The notice states two types. It gives no length for either, and it names no standard or system.

Miroslava lists metal parapets among the road works

Comuna Miroslava in Iași county signed on 28 September 2026 with S.C. SIMMAR TRANS S.R.L. The works are the modernisation of 12 local streets with a total length of 5.639 km. The value is 10,509,711.01 RON, about 1,963,404 EUR, and the works period is 6 months. The notice, SCNA1137580, appeared on 30 September 2026.

The description lists the categories of work. Two lines concern the roadside:

and further down, in the second list of categories, montaj parapeti metalici, the installation of metal parapets. The same lists name culverts, concrete-lined ditches, a concrete retaining wall, road marking and signs. For a supplier of guardrails, the notice says that metal parapets are installed. It does not say how many metres, or on which of the 12 streets.

Drăgan: parapets listed with retaining walls and structures

Regia Națională a Pădurilor – Romsilva signed through its Bihor forestry directorate on 25 September 2026 with CONSTRUCT DRUMURI GROUP S.R.L., in a consortium with MARCOTIM IMPEX S.R.L. The contract is worth 12,956,019.91 RON, about 2,420,419 EUR, and runs 24 months. The notice, SCNA1137462, appeared on 28 September 2026.

It covers the rehabilitation of four forest roads in the Drăgan valley, 14.66 km in all. The notice gives each road's length: Drăgan Mal Drept (3,200 m) and Drăgan 2 (900 m) lie in Săcuieu commune in Cluj county, while Valea Drăganului (6,600 m) and Obârșie Drăgan (3,960 m) lie in Budureasa commune in Bihor county. It lists the works in brackets:

(Terasamente, Ziduri de sprijin, Sistem rutier, Parapeti, Lucrări de artă)

Earthworks, retaining walls, road structure, parapets, engineering structures. The lengths are those of the roads. They are not parapet lengths, and the notice does not say how much of each road gets a parapet.

What the stated lengths tell a supplier, and what they do not

The three notices give three kinds of number, and only one of them is close to a parapet.

1. Road lengths (5.639 km, 14.66 km). They bound the job. A parapet covers a fraction of a road, and the notice does not say which fraction.
2. Structure dimensions (the 27.02 m bridge). They are nearer, since a bridge parapet follows the structure. Even so, the notice does not say that the parapet runs the whole length.
3. Parapet types (Tăureni). This is the only specification in the three notices: heavy-type directional with a high kerb, and metal pedestrian.

Signature to publication took two to three days

Tăureni and Drăgan were both signed on 25 September 2026 and published on 28 September 2026, a lag of 3 days. Miroslava was signed on 28 September 2026 and published on 30 September 2026, a lag of 2 days.
