Pumping stations in Buza and Dostat water contracts

Two small Romanian communes signed water-sector works within five days of each other. Comuna Buza in Cluj county signed an extension of its water supply network. Comuna Dostat in Alba county signed a new sewer network. Both notices state pipe lengths and a number of pumping stations in their own words.

Together the two contracts are worth 15,994,857.29 RON, about 2,990,364 EUR. They belong to the product class on our pipes and pumps page. This article sets out what each notice states, and nothing beyond it.

Buza signed a water network of 24,544 m with three pumping stations

Comuna Buza signed the contract on 30 September 2026 and the notice appeared on the same day. The contractor is NORINVEST CONSTRUCT S.R.L. The value is 4,526,693.93 RON, about 846,301 EUR, and the works period is 18 months. The works are in the villages of Buza and Rotunda.

The notice describes the hydraulic installations like this:

Instalatiile hidraulice - Conducte de alimentare cu apa - Lungimea totala a retelelor proiectate (extindere) este: L total retea = 24544 ml, din care:

It states a total of 24,544 m of newly designed water pipe. For the village of Buza it gives 13,418 m, split into 11,672 m of DN 63 mm pipe and 1,746 m of DN 90 mm pipe, both at PN 10.

On pumping, the notice lists the electrical connections that feed the stations, "SP1, SP2 si SP3", and a line that reads:

Statii de pompare : 3 buc., din care :

That is three pumping stations. A further line states house connections:

Bransamente PEID, En 25 mm, Pn 6 bari - 300 buc.

These are 300 connections in PEID, the Romanian abbreviation for high-density polyethylene.

Dostat signed a sewer network of 14,437 m with 13 pumping stations

Comuna Dostat signed on 25 September 2026. The notice was published on 30 September 2026, five days later. The contractor is AWE INFRA SRL. The value is 11,468,163.36 RON, about 2,144,063 EUR, and the works period is 36 months. The works cover the villages of Dostat and Boz.

The notice's description of the investment is one sentence:

Investitia prevede realizarea retelei de canalizare de apa uzata in lungime de 14.437 m, 1 buc statie de epurare, 13 buc statii de pompare si repompare a apei uzate si 465 buc racorduri individuale.

It states a wastewater sewer of 14,437 m, one treatment plant, 13 stations for pumping and re-pumping wastewater, and 465 individual connections. The notice names the stations as pumping and re-pumping stations, so some of the 13 may sit downstream of others. It does not say how many are which.

The two notices side by side

The two contracts differ in kind. Buza extends a water network and the notice lists the pipe by diameter. Dostat builds a sewer network and the sentence quoted above states a single length, with no diameters.

How to read a quantity in a notice

A figure in the notice is what the authority wrote in the description of the works. We mark such a figure as stated in the notice. It is not a delivery schedule, and the notice does not say when any item is bought.

Three habits help a supplier read these lines:

1. Check the unit. Romanian notices write ml for linear metres and buc for pieces. The same line can carry several units, as the Dostat sentence does.
2. Separate the total from its parts. Buza states 24,544 m as a total and then breaks it down by village and diameter. Do not add the parts to the total again.
3. Note the works period. A 36-month contract such as Dostat spreads its work over a longer time than an 18-month one such as Buza.

What the notices do not state

The passages quoted here name no pump make, no pipe manufacturer and no capacity. They state quantities of works. They say nothing about who will supply any item, and we do not guess.
